Karen Brown

Karen Brown

Karen joined the Guild in 1990 as a dancer for our "European City of Culture" production of "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". She has danced in every production since then (with the exception of "Half-A-Sixpence" when she was expecting #1 son!). She even danced through our production of "South Pacific" with a 'special guest star' on board in the form of unborn son #2!! Her first ever stage appearance is likely to have been as a child star as she took dancing lessons from an early age.

Out of the limelight Karen's contribution to Theatre Guild has become legendary. She has served on the committee, been a stalwart of the Concert Party (which she directed and choreographed for a number of years) and an active member of the club on the social scene. Over the years she has organised countless social events including our annual 'Dirty Weekends' to locations as far flung as Birmingham, Manchester and Aviemore. She is always the one to organise the 'spur of the moment' theatre trips, special birthday cards, wedding presents, and more for (or on behalf of) club members. In doing this Karen has contributed significantly to the Guild's famous sense of community. In 2006 her efforts were recognised as she was presented the Billy Love Award.

Off stage Karen is the Assistant Head at St Aloysius College Junior School, mother to Conner and Challum and wife to 'mad husband' David!!

(Karen's Secret: she has recently built Cumbernauld's equivalent of "Beckingham Palace" in the form of a GIANT extension to her house!)
