NEW!! The Ubiquitous Lift ... - In what has become something of a Theatre Guild night out tradition ... David McCurrach is lifted into the air effortlessly by his fellow Theatre Guild members to the strains of "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" from Dirty Dancing. The occasion, in this case, was Theatre Guild's 50th Anniversary Gala Ball at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Glasgow on Saturday 19 June 2010. Thanks to Louise McMurray for this clip!
NEW!! 50th Anniversary Concert, St. Andrews in the Square (15 May 2010)... - Our 50th Anniversary Concert in 2010 was a grand affair held at the prestigious St. Andrews in the Square in the heart of Glasgow. This bootleg clip sourced from an unknown internet donor features the brand new Phantom of the Opera set.
When "Go Go" Got Up and Went... - This clip is from Louise Munro's 2009 birthday party!! This will surely become vintage footage as we see David Brown reliving his past and taking the 80s Night theme just a little too far!.
Close Shave Barbershop... - This is a small clip of the 15 minutes of free entertainment provided by the "Close Shave" barbershop group directed by our old MD, Eoin Millar, at our 2007 Christmas Night out. The event was at the Scottische Restauant above Babbity Bowster in Blackfriar's Street. 35 Guild members took over the venue and we were bowled over by these spontaneous entertainers!
Joyful Joyful... - This clip is an excerpt from the 2007 Fund Raiser concert starring our very own Concert Crew. The event was held in Community Central Halls in Maryhill and featured songs from the shows including Jesus Christ Superstar and Mama Mia.
When I'm calling you-oo-oo-oo - Back to 1988! Do you remember when the Mounties knocked over that table? Well, this outtake is from the scene immediately following that one. Watch the professionalism of the principal players as two 'extras' appear in the role of 'Health and Safety' personnel!! The clip features James Dinsmore (in the blazer) who recently toured the country with Gary Wilmot in the national tour of Half-a-Sixpence!
The Bells ... The Bells! - This one is my personal favourite! Again from our Millennium production of "South Pacific", Chairman Les Hooper 'soldiers on' bravely when a sound effect doesn't go according to plan in this outtake from the Dress Rehearsal. See if you can spot rare appearance by Stage Director, Ian Purves!
Prop Management - Watch this outtake from the Dress Rehearsal of our 1997 production of "Calamity Jane" and see if you can spot an impromtu cameo appearance by our Artistic Director, Alasdair Hawthorn!
Mountie Mahem - Back at the dawn of time (when 'video' was a new technology and many of our existing members were not yet BORN) - 1988 - Theatre Guild performed "Rose Marie" in the King's Theatre featuring a rousing chorus of 20 Mounties!! This outtake shows the impressive squad of crimson-clad Mounties showing off their military drill during the Dress Rehearsal ... until they wheel effortlessly into a table!
Enjoy Your Trip - In 2001 Theatre Guild performed a revival of the classic Cole Porter musical "Anything Goes" in the Mitchell Theatre. The performance week was a huge success but, as this outtake shows, the Dress Rehearsal was not flawless!
Musical Madness - Back in 2000, Theatre Guild celebrated the Millennium and their 40th Anniversary by performing "South Pacific" in the Mitchell Theatre. In this outtake (taken from the Dress Rehearsal) all does not go smoothly!
Young man, young man ... A highlight of the Hello, Dolly! After Show Party in 2005 was an 'impromptu' appearance by "The Guild People" (a little known Village People tribute group). 5 minutes of rehearsal was all it took to produce this quality performance from group members Tony, Jim, John, Cammy and Jon. Clip courtesy of Gill (Speilberg) Gilmour. Sadly, no sound on this one ... but, come on, you KNOW the words!
One Weekend in Newcastle ... - The Guild's 'Dirty Weekend' to Newcastle in 2004 has become legendary! 16 of us travelled in 4 cars to the North East's shopping capital. We stayed in the 3 star George Washington Hotel, forgoing the 2 golf courses to spend time in the spa and shop in the "toon cen'a". The evening's entertainment was hilarious with a very bad comedian and a fantastic magician. The night was rounded off with a great disco and the traditional hotel room party! The next day we took our delicate dispositions off to the Metro Centre for more shopping and a hearty meal before heading home! The weekend was organised by Karen Brown. Priceless!
